Your Child's First Eye Examination
Children are recommended to have vision tested at an early age because visual skills are easier to correct before full development. Good vision is important because children learn through their eyes.
Signs your child may need an eye check
- Recurrent headaches, dizziness, squinting or frequent blinking.
- Holding books unusually close while reading.
- Difficulty estimating distance or often bumping into objects.
- Eyes looking in different directions, blurred vision or double vision.
- Twisting or tilting the head to favour one eye.
UV Protection
Children, like adults, need sun protection. The old page explained that children may have higher eye health risks because the lens in a child’s eye does not filter as much UV light.
